LGPA is a member of the Virginia Alliance of Paralegal Associations (VAPA), which provides paralegals with a statewide voice within the legal community. VAPA was formed in 1989 and consists of nine member associations and five member affiliates. VAPA has promulgated Educational Standards & Professional Guidelines to assure that paralegals in the Commonwealth of Virginia meet certain required standards and perform competently under established guidelines.

The LGPA Board appoints a delegate to represent the Association at VAPA meetings. VAPA delegates meet several times throughout the year to discuss developments in the paralegal profession, address issues pertaining to paralegals and plan its biannual conference.
